Resolved Question: Is California Starting To Look Like Mexico?

Not that I really have an issue with it, but do you think CA is really starting to look like Mexico? I live in Santa Rosa, which is about an hour north of SF, and the Mexican/Mexican-American and Hispanic in general population is pretty large, about 28.6%, as of the 2010 Census. The whole westside of my city is basically half Latino and half other ethnic groups, and there are some streets and stores in my city where you go in and hear nothing but Spanish or see businesses with just Spanish writing on it only. Some of the elementary schools in my city are more than 90% Hispanic. Much of CA has cities like this, but some even way more Hispanics. People don't like this because there are a lot of illegal immigrants from the South of the Border, and a lot of drug smuggling comes from there and gangs like Nortenos and Surenos are all around the state. I actually like the Latino neighborhoods better than the bland rich neighborhoods in my city, but I think the fact it's a culture where there's so much of it everywhere it may make many Californians away. A lot of my friends complain about CA looks like Mexico more and more each day, and wanting to move, the illegal immigration, them not speaking English, gangs, etc. It may sound racist but that's what they think. I know CA was part of Mexico in the 1800's, but I'm talking about now lol... Read More »
